Work in the UK

Though the country has undergone significant change and disruption in recent years, the UK continues to grant hundreds of thousands of work visas each year.  Between April 2022 and March 2023, the UK granted around 300,000 work visas to individuals looking to come to the UK to take up employment. In addition, over 187,000 dependants of work visa holders were granted visas to come to the UK with their parent, guardian, spouse or partner.

Navigating the UK work visa system can however be a challenge. While just two visas—the Skilled Worker visa and the Health and Care Worker visa—account for over half of the total work visas issued by the UK in the year up to March 2023, there are over 30 different work visas issued by UK Visas & Immigration. The conditions attached to these visas and their suitability for each individual applicant will differ depending on personal circumstances.

Whether you have already secured a job offer or are hoping to find work after arrival in the UK, applying for the right visa is essential to avoid delays and the potential disappointment of having your visa application rejected.
